Our References for Site Investigation

SuedLink 2020–2023
Site investigations for a TenneT energy transmission line. Pressure tests, dry drilling, groundwater monitoring wells, and small-diameter percussion drilling.

Dornumersiel to Baltrum 2023
Site investigations on the mainland, in the Wadden Sea, and on the island of Baltrum for the onshore connection of wind farms in the North Sea, commissioned by TenneT Offshore GmbH. Site investigations involving cone penetration tests and dry drilling to a depth of up to 40 meters. Special requirements due to the work being carried out in the ecologically highly sensitive Wadden Sea National Park and the logistical challenges posed by the car-free island of Baltrum.

Hamburg U4 2023
Site investigation on the Elbe River in Hamburg. Work conducted in two shifts from a floating platform. Dry drilling up to 60 m and cone penetration tests.
3 Criteria for a Successful Project
Assessing the site conditions for your project is the foundation for reliable planning of all subsequent steps.
1. A provider with experience
To ensure that your site investigation is successful, your service provider should:
- Work only with trained professionals
- Comply with current environmental and occupational safety standards
- be familiar with the soils in your region
- Have experience with projects of this size
2. Comprehensive Site Assessment
You need recommendations and design parameters for your further planning. Your drilling contractor will provide samples and measurement data.
Reputable drilling companies work with external specialists who analyze the data and prepare your report.
3. Support until construction begins
Whether it’s a public-sector client, a major project client, or a private homebuilder: A good provider handles all projects with the same level of care.
→ You can find all of this at THADE GERDES!
From drilling to test boring—
THADE GERDES makes it happen
Successful construction projects require a solid foundation.
We specialize in large-scale infrastructure projects in northern Germany.
Our focus is on investigating the subsoil for power cable routes, highways, bypasses, coastal protection measures, and waterways.
Our roots lie in smaller projects such as surveys for buildings, wind farms, bridges, and similar planned structures.
We are also delighted to serve this market.
Our core competencies lie in performing dry drilling and pressure testing both on land and from the water.
In this area, we are well-equipped with new equipment and a relatively young team.
Although our headquarters are located in East Frisia, we serve customers throughout Germany.
We offer you:
Our soil investigation drilling is performed in accordance with DIN EN ISO 22475.
This allows us to obtain all the necessary information about your building site and its stratigraphic structure. External engineers can analyze the information we have gathered and develop foundation designs.
For drilling surveys, we have been working for years with qualified subcontractors who specialize in this type of soil investigation drilling.
Pile driving tests and simple pile depth measurements are also among the services provided by these subcontractors.
The cone penetration test (CPT) is a method for soil investigation in accordance with DIN EN ISO 22476. In this test, a measuring head attached to a rod is pressed into the ground at a constant speed. The tip pressure and skin friction are measured during this process. Force is measured using an electronic recording system. The measured values allow conclusions to be drawn about the underlying soil and its compaction density. The measurement curves are displayed in situ on a laptop and can be interpreted immediately.
We offer all of this—both on land and on the water!
You’re probably wondering how that’s possible from the water …
At THADE GERDES, we make it happen!
With our specially designed floating equipment, such as our pontoon.
